This was my first time working on a design project using die cuts and it was an exciting challenge. I recently had the opportunity to design four tea boxes for college, working within the constraints of their brand guidelines while incorporating my own clean and modern style. As part of the design, I decided to include a triangular image on the corner of the box that highlighted the product inside. Implementing this design element through die cutting was a new experience for me, but I was able to work closely with my professor to ensure that the final product was executed flawlessly. I would be excited to work further with this type of design and refine my skills more.
My passion for magazine design was sparked by my enrollment at Lane Community College, an award-winning institution for this type of design. Throughout my time there, I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of magazine design projects, including layouts and grid design. One of the biggest obstacles I faced in this field was learning to use Adobe InDesign, but with practice and perseverance, I have become comfortable using the software and look forward to continuing to learn more about its capabilities. When designing a magazine layout, I follow key design principles and often use grids to ensure that my creative process flows smoothly. My experience in using Adobe InDesign has allowed me to create successful and visually appealing magazine designs, and I am excited to continue honing my skills in this field.
Logo and branding design have always piqued my interest, and as a graphic design student, I have taken courses that focused on this type of design. I am particularly drawn to the importance of typography in logo design and often use it as the focal point in my designs. When working on a logo or branding project, I like to start by selecting a color or color scheme that accurately reflects the client's mission and feel. From there, I explore typography that fits with the company's values and personality. My design process is iterative and collaborative, involving presenting the client with multiple rough drafts and then polishing the chosen direction until it perfectly conveys the desired message. Above all else, I prioritize the typography in my designs to ensure that it is both visually appealing and accurately represents the client's brand.
